Setting Goals
I don't think that I'm going to reach my goal of getting the first 50 grams of Wendy's sock yarn spun by July 31. I'm only up to ~14 grams and I don't see me being able to spin another 35 grams today and Wednesday!! So I'm revising my goal to have spun 20 grams instead of 50 grams today and tomorrow.

I also found that trying to do much spinning AND knitting on my Fearless Fairisle in the same night doesn't work very well. Monday, I did meet my goal of spinning 2 more lengths of roving plus knit 2 rounds on the FF, but there was a couple of times where I didn't think I would finish! I'm finding that 2 rounds is about all I can expect to do in a given night unless I'm able to have a pretty uninterrupted evening when I get home from work...(with an 18month old....I don't think so!)

I will have to say that I'm having a Ball spinning this yarn. The 3 rovings I'm using are prepared slightly differently and it makes for such interesting spinning...keeping me on my toes. I'm certainly not getting bored...by the time I'm getting sick of one color, it's time to change to another! I'm getting pretty anxious, though, to get to my 50 gram mark so I can skein it up. I'm thinking that I will send Wendy 4 50g skeins instead of 2 100g skeins. It's just a little easier for me to work with that way.

Fearless Fairisle
I knitted my 2 rounds. The color is a bit off but here is the latest picture...

I also spun the purple length and the next pink length as I planned for Wendy's sock yarn. It's now measuring 0.5 ounces (~14g). My spindle seems to want to start backspinning on me all of a sudden. Not sure exactly why that's happening. The spindle itself is a 1.5 ounce spindle so I don't think it has anything to do with having too much on the spindle right now. Hmmmm....anyone have any thoughts?

Wendy's Sock Yarn
I did quite a bit of spinning in between working on some data analysis for work and the usual running around and weekend chores! Here are some pix...

You can see my beloved wrist distaff and my Alaskan spindle I purchased from the Woolery. I've now spun around 11 or 12 grams (~0.4 ounces) of singles. I didn't quite get all 10 grams spun Friday night like I wanted to...it's basically taken me the weekend to get the 11 or 12 g spun up.

Fearless FairisleI also finished the ribbing on the FF and am on the 3rd round of the body. I'll try and take pix of the latest here on Monday night.

Fearless Fairisle Progress
OK, so I didn't get all the ribbing finished...300+ stitches takes me a while to get around! But, I'm only 4 rounds away from being completed with the ribbing. Yeah!!! Tonight I plan to finish up the ribbing and spin the first 10g of Wendy's sock yarn. I'm doing a fingering weight for her yarn...targeting the size of the Opal and Regia sock yarns. I'll have to recheck tonight, but I think I'm at about 17 wpi for all you spinners out there. I'll try to check my twist angle too, tonight. Hopefully this weekend, I'll get some in progress pix of the FF and the sock yarn.

Sock Yarn Choice Made!
Wendy likes the alternating pink/purple/white/purple/pink yarn better so that's what she'll get!!! I actually like it better too. It was pretty fun spinning it up. I used the Navajo 3ply method of plying in order to get the colors to alternate. I spun my singles by alternating strips of the pink, purple, and white rovings. My sample shown below used only 6" strips of roving. I think that for the final yarn, I will use longer lengths of roving so that the final sock yarn will end up with longer lengths of colors. I'm hoping that I'll end up with more of an Opal/Regia type of "ringel" coloring to it. We'll see!!! I'm very excited about this project. Wendy, I hope you like the resulting yarn. I'll take a wpi measurement tonight.

Fearless Fairisle Progress
I didn't finish the ribbing last night like I wanted. I only got 2 more rounds finished...that means I'm now up to round 14. I'm going out to eat tonight after work with my sister and my daughter so I will probably work more on the ribbing tonight.

Wendy's Final 2 Sock Yarns
OK, so here's the final 2 choices. This one is a 3 ply...2 plies purple, 1 ply pink.

This one is a 3 ply Navajo style, alternating pink, purple, white, purple, pink.

Let me know which one you like best!

More later...

Spinning Update
Ahhhh, the best laid plans of mice and men (women?) A little background. Mike had said he'd be traveling most of this week. OK, fine, so I had sort of planned out what I would be doing after work as far as my spinning/knitting goes. Last night, I had planned to spin up a couple of more samples for Wendy's sock yarn, take pix, and get them posted so everyone could see today. Well, not long after I get home from work, Mike calls and says he's on his way home...he has lots of work to get done on the computer...he'll be home in time for supper (I didn't plan on preparing anything!). OK, he gets home and says,

"Oh, I also need a suit to wear tomorrow."

"All but this one are packed up in storage since you didn't think you would need any suits this summer", I reply.

"Uhhhh, let's see"...tries on the pants and they are too tight.

"OK, let's see if I can let them out". Away I go to get the sewing machine out and start my couture sewing experience of letting out too small suit pants. Pizza is ordered and I go get it while Mike stays with Kelly and works on computer. I need an iron, but my sister took her iron back. Dohhhhhh! I try calling her but she's not there. So off to Target I go at 8pm to get an iron. (Oh, well, I needed a new one anyway! And guess who I saw at Target...my sister!) Anyway, got back, got the pants finished, and retired to bed exhausted.

Well I did get one more sample spun up before Mike got home. But he has the good camera so I've been using the pencam. Well, he informed me last night that he unloaded the pencam SW because it was conflicting with his scanner (which is also his business printer and fax machine). So, I not only didn't get all the samples spun up that I wanted, but I couldn't even get pix posted of the samples I did do!

Here's hoping that tonight goes better.

Spinning Yarn for Wendy
I won the trade with Wendy...WooHoo!!! I offered a handspun sock yarn in trade and she accepted. Over vacation, I had purchased some purple roving and some pink roving and last night I started sampling up some fingering weight yarn. I'm going to try sampling some more tonight and see what looks the best. I'll post pix of my results.

New Blogging Look and I've Got Pictures!!
I'm now operating on my new blog through Blogger Pro. It should allow me to keep everything updated since I have a hard time getting online through my home computer right now. I had to use my pen cam and not my good digital camera, but I managed to get some pictures uploaded! Here is the first of my Opal Mexiko Socks. Also, my Fearless Fairisle swatch, Fearless Fairisle ribbing, and Sky Blue Merino spinning swatch.
